Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former AICC chief Sonia Gandhi will address party leaders in Raipur and resolutions on political, economic and international issues will be discussed at the party's 85th plenary session on Saturday.
At the start of the second day of the three-day conclave, the congress president will release a book and the party general secretaries will present their reports. Afterwards, Kharge addresses the gathering. A 'thank you' statement for former Congress president Sonia Gandhi will also be read out at the session, after which he will deliver his address.
The delegates will then discuss political, economic and international resolutions according to the agenda shared by the party. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi arrived in Raipur on Saturday to attend the convention. She was received at the airport by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. On the first day of the session, the Congress management committee unanimously decided not to hold CWC elections and mandated the party chief to nominate its members. The decision was taken at a meeting of the management committee chaired by Kharg, which was skipped by members of the Gandhi family.
Later in the day, the first working committee meeting of the party was held, which was also attended by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi soon after they arrived here late on Friday afternoon. Six resolutions were discussed at the meeting, which are to be adopted at the meeting. Around 15,000 delegates are participating in the session, which is taking place against the backdrop of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which the party has described as a success.
